Miss Laurie
Laurie Trees founded Stage Door School of Dance in 1985, fulfilling her dreams of becoming a dance teacher and opening her own dance studio. She was blessed to begin her dance career at 10 years old at Miss Joyce School of Dance in DeSoto, Texas. Her favorite form of dance is Ballet but loves all genres.
Laurie obtained a BA in Theater Arts, a BA in English, and a BA in Dance at the Univerisity of Texas at Arlington. She is also a certified swim instructor. She is a native Texan and has had extensive training in dance, studying in Dallas and New York. In New York she studied with David Howard, Joe Tremaine, Luigi, Jo Rowan, & Frank Hachett. She has judged many talent competitions and beauty pageants, drill and dance team tryouts, as well as cheer tryouts. Miss Laurie's students have competed and performed at many venues over the past 39 years. Star Stage Competition, I Love Dance Competition, Dupree Dance Compeition, Showstoppers, and Dance for the Planet just to name a few. Her advance tap classes perform and open for Broadway Musicals at The Music Hall at Fair Park for such Broadway shows as Wicked, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Cinderella, Lion King, & Chicago.
